This will be Wes’s twelfth with the program and his seventh year as Athletic Director. In 2011, the first year of the program’s history Coach Wes started as the recruiting coordinator. He served in the same role in 2012 and was hired as the defensive coordinator in 2013.
In 2016, Coach Wes hired Tony Labozzetta to take over as the head football coach. Coach Wes moved to Athletic Director only, and has been in that role ever since.
In 2015, Coach Wes led the Minutemen to a 5-3 season with 32 players receiving offers to play college football at a 4 year program. Coach Wes’s total record as a head coach is 10-5-1 in two seasons.
During the 2014 season, Coach Wes was promoted to Interim Head Coach after week one. After a 5-2-1 campaign, the interim title was removed and Coach Wes was the permanent Head Coach.
A former high school standout offensive lineman, Dorton attended Midlothian High School in Richmond, Virginia. After graduating from Midlothian, Wes continued his career as an offensive lineman at Liberty University.
