Minutemen Dethrone Monarchs 35-34

Fayetteville, NC – The Minutemen traveled to Fayetteville, NC this week to play the Methodist University JV Monarchs. The Minutemen prevailed in the 4th quarter on defense with a 4th down stop to hang on to win 35-34. The Minutemen offensive line helped pave the way for RB Trayvon Thomas who had 14 carries for 120 yards and 2 TDs.

QB Skyler Bonneau was efficient and effective all afternoon going 14 for 24 passes with 1 TD and no interceptions. Bonneau also added a diving rushing TD. WR/QB/KR Jonathan Sims had 153 total yards with 71 kickoff return yards, 54 receiving yards, and 28 passing yards.

DB’s Joseph Rapp and Syveon Howard both recorded INT’s. Rapp added a TD to the end of his interception run.

The Minutemen are now 4-2 and return home to face Middle Georgia State on Sunday, November 1st at 5:00PM. All home games are at Benedict College’s Charlie W. Johnson Stadium.

Minutemen beat Lions 31-21

Atlanta, GA – On a road trip this weekend, the Palmetto Prep Minutemen defeated the Georgia Prep Sports Academy Lions 31-21. The Minutemen were down 21-10 at halftime and scored 21 unanswered points in the 2nd half to finish out the game. Palmetto Prep moves to 3-2 on the year.

The Minutemen head to Fayetteville, NC next week to face Methodist University JV.

Minutemen fall to Silver Storm

Columbia, SC – The Minutemen fell to ASA Miami 41-12 this past weekend. They will travel to Atlanta Georgia to play Georgia Prep Sports Academy this Sunday, October 18th at 2:00pm.

 

 

Minutemen top Hurricanes

Columbia, SC – The Palmetto Prep Academy Minutemen played their first game against the Gattaca Florida Hurricanes this past weekend. This marks the first East Atlantic Conference match up against the two teams. Gattaca is a second year program based in Tampa, Florida while Palmetto Prep is entering its fifth season on the field.

The Minutemen toppled the Hurricanes with 503 yards of total offense as they went on to win 18-7. Leading the offense was WR Tre Thompson who had 6 receptions for 118 yards and 2 touchdowns. RB Juquan Feaster led the Minutemen on the ground with 11 carries for 116 yards. QB Jonathan Sims had 2 touchdown passes amongst 6 completions on 6 attempts for a 100% completion percentage. Sims added 49 yards on the ground as well. QB Skyler Bonneau had 216 yards through the air with a touchdown strike early in the game to Tre Thompson.

Defensively the Minutemen were stout up front and swarmed to the ball all afternoon. DB Joseph Rapp made outstanding tackles on the perimeter while adding several positive punt returns which impacted the field position battle as well as recording an interception. LB Esteban Delfino led the team with 6 tackles and 2 TFL while DE Dorian Gerald followed up with 5.5 tackles and 2 TFL. LB’s Keionte Moore and Sean Connaghan were relentless on their pursuit. The defense held the Hurricanes to only 7 points.

Camp Concludes with Scrimmage

Columbia, SC – The Palmetto Prep Minutemen conclude fall camp today with a 4 quarter game-like scrimmage today. This was a great opportunity for some of the new players to earn their reps with some injuries to the normal starters. There were several players who performed well in today’s action. Offensively, QB Skyler Bonneau was 27/45 for 335 yards and 3 TD passes and 0 INTs. Bonneau added 48 yards on the ground amongst 8 carries with a rushing TD as well. RB BJ Boyd had 15 carries for 78 yards and 2 TD runs. Newcomer WR Raquan Green from Johnson Savannah had 8 grabs for 85 yards. Athlete Jonathan Sims had 20 yards on the ground, 21 yards through the air, and 44 receiving yards with a rushing TD and a TD reception respectively. 11 different offensive players recorded a reception.

The defense was led by LB’s Sean Connaghan and Keionte Moore. Both are newcomers who play outside LB in Coach Tommy Lee’s defense. Their ability to blitz off of the edge and create pressure was prevalent all afternoon. DB Joseph Rapp also showed his motor and athletic ability with a touchdown saving tackle on WR Raquan Green.
